A non-profit 501-C(3)
arts organization dedicated to developing talented young pianists (grades
6-12) and promoting education and the arts in North Texas. Since 1989,
TCYA has staged its annual conservatory events the third week of June.
Each year, students and teachers benefit from intimate contact with
internationally acclaimed pianists, outstanding collegiate pianists, and
faculty from the world's finest institutions, through classes and
performances.
Student performances, including the opportunity to play
with the Plano Symphony Orchestra, are integral to the program.
Non-participants from the general public may attend all conservatory
events.
TCYA is a volunteer operation with no paid staff. It is
supported by a City of Plano grant, individual and corporate gifts, and
admission proceeds from annual conservatory events. Donations in support
of this important North Texas cultural resource are welcome.

The combo also delivers jazz outreach activities. Theme performances selectively available through 2003 include the Hot House Jazz salute to a Django Rienhart and Sidney Bechet: "Pioneers of Jazz"; "Benny Goodman - a swing retrospective"; "Latin Jazz Revolution - The evolution of the jazz combo since the swing era"; and "The Genius of Thelonius Monk". Private and public performances can be arranged. |
