Besides being an All-America
City in which to live and play, Plano is an outstanding city for business.
It is the international headquarters for several large companies such
as EDS, Frito Lay, J. C. Penney, and Dr. Pepper/7 UP as well as the location
for numerous other large companies.
On the other hand, Home Office Computing magazine has at least twice selected
Plano as the "Best
City in the U.S. for Home-based Businesses." A tremendous number
of high tech entrepreneurs call the Plano area home. Many are quietly engaged
in developing the next versions of biotechnology, wireless broadband, and other
esoteric high technology solutions.
Plano, Texas, is a city of
255,000 people located 22 miles north of downtown Dallas in the heart of the
Technology Crossroads of North Texas.
High technology companies abound in Plano and the surrounding area,
so much
so that the North Texas area is the second largest area for high technology companies
in the United States after the Silicon Valley.
